Introduction
Below you will find an introduction to the IT environment available at GIH and the different types of services etc. you can use to facilitate your studies.
Don't be afraid that the page looks long, but see it as a "crash course" in how IT works at GIH.
When you have gone through this page, you have so much "hum" that you know where to turn in different questions.
Good luck and go hard!
For the introduction in English , read here: https://gihse.atlassian.net/wiki/pages/createpage.action?spaceKey=faq&title=IT-Introduction%20for%20students%20at%20GIH%20%28EN%29&linkCreation=true&fromPageId=2890203153
General
To make it easier for you as a new student to get into your IT everyday life here at GIH, the IT function here has collected some good information that you can go through in peace and quiet to feel a little more "at home" in your IT everyday life.
Each group room at GIH is equipped to be able to carry out meetings physically, as a mix or completely remotely. There is connection equipment so that you can connect your laptop via cable to the TV screen or you log in with your GIH account via the small computer that is behind the TV and carry out your meeting?
Your IT account
Your IT account is personal and may be disclosed to someone else. The IT account itself is made up of your email address ("förnamn.efternamn@student.gih.se") and associated password.
Examples of systems where your IT account is used | ||

GIH Computer | Collaboration platform | |
Learning management system (Canvas) | Office 365 (Outlook, OneDrive, etc.) | Wireless network (eduroam) |
Case management system | LADOK | Zoom |

At GIH, we also apply requirements for how your password can look and how long it should be, more info can be found here: https://gihse.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/FAQ/pages/1238335691
Should you forget your password, you can reset it yourself by visiting http://office.com and here you will find a guide on how to do it: Link to reset
Storage
Files and documents are stored on a cloud service from Microsoft called OneDrive.
NOTE! It is these storage areas that are linked to the information classification above.
Storage areas | Explanation |
|---|---|
Office 365 | A cloud service that the higher education and university sector in Sweden has procured jointly. Storage is done via SUNET's partner Microsoft. This includes services such as Outlook on the web, OneDrive, Teams, OneNote, Forms, etc. Encrypted and accessed regardless of time and space over the sync client or web interface. The data can be synced from cloud storage to your private computer and accessed via web interface. The storage takes place in Sweden |
Email and calendar management
On your computer, use the Outlook application to send email and manage your calendar. Your email and calendar etc. are also available online through Microsoft at: https://outlook.com and then you log in with your IT account. Of course, you can also get your email on your mobile and then use the app "Outlook".
The calendar in Outlook can be used to book meetings and GIH's meeting rooms are bookable in the calendar.
Print Management
At GIH, a printing system called "Uniflow Online" is used for both staff and students. A major advantage of this system is that you can print whenever you want and later pick up yours in any printer by using your "access card" to authenticate yourself at the printer.
The system also offers you the option of printing from a private computer, your mobile or tablet.
Go to print.gih.se to access your printouts or top up your printing budget.
NOTE! To be able to print, you must link your access card with your username. Basically, you go to the printer, tap your access card and enter the activation code that you find in the UniFlow portal (print.gih.se). Tap your access card and enter the activation code on a printer and you can start printing.

Case management system
To communicate with various functions within GIH in a smooth way, a case management system called Jira is used.
Here, the following functions answer questions and answers:
The IT function, Reception and the Caretaker's Office for questions.
The easiest way to access the case management system is via the following link: http://support.gih.se
By using this system, you can easily and smoothly keep track of your various cases and it will be easy for the different functions to escalate your case if any problem should arise.
The case management system can be accessed via a web browser from any computer, tablet, phone and at any time.
IT Service
You can turn to IT service with all matters related to your account problems, problems with wireless network and printing, etc., or if you just have a question or concern.

GIH uses Office 365 and the following services you can then use, for example:

The Office package (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) Office.com.
By using the services above, you can also access your work files, so-called "online" from, for example, another computer without risking your documents disappearing from GIH's domain.
